Led by partner Philip Cohen and Tony Bown, our experienced and commercially-minded Debt Collection Group offers clients a high-quality debt collection service. First and foremost, we advise clients on credit control procedures, standard systems, forms and terms of trading so as to reduce the likelihood of bad debts arising in the first place.
Where they do arise, we take proactive action to recover monies quickly and with a minimum of cost for clients that include major credit card companies, financial institutions and well-known leasing and equipment hire companies. We often act on behalf of organisations that have their own in-house legal departments but that nonetheless find it cost effective and efficient to outsource their debt collection requirements to us.
Where debt collection actions are defended, it is our standard practice to transfer the action immediately to Jeffrey Green Russell's Commercial Litigation Group. Our litigation lawyers have an excellent success rate. The majority of the claims they handle are resolved in the early stages of proceedings and less than 5 per cent go to trial. On average, debts are collected within 2 to 6 weeks of our receiving instruction.
