Philip G Cohen is Senior Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation.
After graduating with a Senior Scholarship and 1st class degree from Peterhouse, Cambridge, he founded the litigation department in 1980- it is now one of the largest and most feared and respected dispute-resolution machines in London’s West End.
Philip handles a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract, insolvency, shareholder and partnership disputes, cases involving international elements including enforcement of foreign judgments and conflict of laws, claims against foreign States, recognition of foreign governments, intellectual property and national and international arbitrations. In addition, he is often instructed by Plaintiff clients to handle negligence claims against professionals, including solicitors, accountants and surveyors.
Philip’s trademark characteristics are acuity and thoroughness and he has earned a reputation as a formidable and heavyweight litigator. Solicitors from outside the firm consult Philip for last-minute advice on their own litigation strategy and tactics. Among his clients Philip includes a number of "big name" players in the sporting and entertainment industries, and his cases are often remarkable for either the high profile of the parties involved, or the legal issues they raise. Philip’s cases are frequently cited in the official law reports, and in the Rules of the Court.
