Philip Cohen

Head, Insolvency and Turnaround, Debt Collection, Commercial Litigation

Philip Cohen is head of Commercial Litigation at Jeffrey Green Russell. He founded the Litigation Department in 1980 - it is now one of the largest in London’s West End. Philip handles a wide range of commercial disputes, including insolvency, shareholder and partnership disputes, and national and international arbitrations. In addition he is often instructed by plaintiff clients to handle negligence claims against professionals, including solicitors and surveyors.

Philip’s trademark characteristics are acuity and thoroughness and he has earned a reputation as a formidable and heavyweight litigator. Solicitors from outside the firm consult Philip for last-minute advice on their own litigation strategy and tactics. Among his clients Philip includes a number of "big name" players in the sporting and entertainment industries, and his cases are often remarkable for either the high profile of the parties involved, or the legal issues they raise. Philip’s cases are frequently cited in the official law reports, and in the Rules of the Court.
