Head, Insolvency and Turnaround, Debt Collection
Tony Bown brings to his role as head of the Debt Collection Group the benefit of his long career of specialisation in credit management and insolvency.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management, past Chairman of it's London Branch where he sat on the Committee for several years before being elected to sit on the National Council five years ago. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Credit Professionals and an Associate of the Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants.
He provides a comprehensive range of services covering every aspect of debt collection, negotiations and settlements; winding up proceedings; and bankruptcy, particularly possession proceedings, income payments orders and advising trustees, Administrators and Liquidators.
He works at senior level with a number of "Blue Chip” clients who include banking and credit/charge card service providers, manufacturers and wholesalers, accountancy firms and insolvency practitioners, publishers, film companies, Local Authorities and governing and regulatory bodies including the Law Society.
He is well known and highly regarded among factoring companies and invoice discounters, from major banks to the independents and ABLs, particularly with regard to specialist collection of ledgers and enforcement of indemnities. He is a regular attendee at ABFA meetings through our affiliate membership, which he obtained, and also Turnaround Management Association meetings. He is regularly asked to give presentations and contribute articles for industry magazines on his areas of expertise.
He has been written about in the London Evening Standard and interviewed and mentioned on national television. He has been responsible for a number of high profile actions against famous individuals and has advised sports promoters and agents on contractual and other legal affairs.
He has a long association and affiliation with the City of London, particularly belonging to two livery companies (Steward of one and Court member of the other), the City Livery Club (past Chairman of two sections), the Guild of Freemen of the City of London and past Chairman of a City Ward Club.
