Head, Town and Country Planning

Vivien Williams heads the firm’s Town and Country Planning Group. Vivien joined the firm following a successful career as a solicitor in local government specialising in all areas of planning, public regulatory law and associated areas. Vivien is uniquely placed to advise clients in promoting planning applications, handling legal aspects and practical problems relating to development schemes, negotiating planning consents and managing a response to enforcement action, utilising her understanding of the local planning authority perspective. Vivien has a wide experience of planning matters, having handled everything from small-scale residential developments, through to town centre redevelopment and major infrastructure projects. She has extensive experience of dealing with enforcement matters. Vivien is an experienced advocate, having appeared at many public inquiries and other hearings. Alongside this contentious work, Vivien has a wide experience of drafting planning and other agreements, both simple and complex. Her addition to the practice enables further high quality advice on planning matters to be available to clients to assist projects to proceed smoothly, within acceptable timescales and economically. Vivien’s clients come from a range of industry sectors: retail; leisure; the licensed trade; residential and commercial developers; property owners and occupiers.
