Out With the Old and in With the New - CDM 2007: What You Need to Know
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 (the "1994 Regulations") have been replaced. Instead, and with effect from 6 April 2007, the imaginatively named Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (the "2007 Regulations") are in force.

The new CIS regulations are to be found in the Income Tax (Construction Industry Scheme) Regulations 2005 and they will replace the 1993 Regulations
New Fire Safety Rules Coming into Force on 1 October 2006
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO 2005), originally intended to be brought into force on 1 April 2006, is coming into force on 1 October 2006 and anyone who is classed as a "responsible person" under RRO 2005 needs to be aware of the changes in relation to fire safety on premises and make provision for them.

With effect from 4 August 2006:
Gas industry rocked by second landmark contaminated land case
The High Court has ruled in R (on the application of National Grid Gas plc) v Environment Agency (17 May 2006) that National Grid Gas ("NGG") is liable under the Contaminated Land Regime (the "Regime") for contamination caused by its statutory predecessors.
Landmark case under Contaminated Land Regime settled out of court
Circular Facilities (London) Ltd v Sevenoaks District Council ([2005] EWHC 865) involved the first appeal brought under the Contaminated Land Regime (the "Regime") to be heard by the High Court.
